Prime Minister 'building an educational system to ensure learning' with corona infection spread

At the government's Education and Revitalization Executive Conference, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his view that it is necessary to build an educational system that can reliably ensure children's learning in light of the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and to consider the full-scale implementation of distance education and the globalization of higher education.

The government's Council on Educational Revitalization was held for the first time in a year and two months since May 20 last year, and began to examine new ways of learning after the new coronavirus infection has converged.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pointed out that "it is necessary to build an educational system that can ensure children's learning, no matter what happens in the future, including infectious diseases."

On that basis, he said, "It is necessary to consider new ways of learning in the post-corona period, such as the full-scale development of distance education and the globalization of higher education, as well as matters that must be addressed not only in the field of education but also in society as a whole, such as autumn admission."

At the conference, we confirmed that when studying at school, we established a working group to discuss ways to ensure social distance for students, to create an environment in which online classes can be taught, and to compile proposals on the "September Enrollment" system.
