Revealing the fuzzy relationship between 5G and NB-IOT

5g and nb iot

Cell-based narrowband Internet of Things (nb-iot) has become an important5g and nb iot branch of IoT. In communication 5g, the fifth generation cell phone mobile communication standard, also known as the fifth generation search mobile communication technology. Then what is the relationship between NB-Iot and 5G?

I: What is the relationship between NB-IoT and 5G technology?

The development of 5G technology brings by no means only faster internet speed for enterprises, but will make everything intelligent system interconnection network we may appear actually, and NB-IoT is the prelude and foundation of 5G commercialization.

The three brothers of 5G era

NB-Iot There are also licenses. the biggest feature of Nb-iot is that the transmission distance reaches an amazing 10 km, which can cover a small county. And it can carry multiple terminals, one base station can carry more than 200,000 terminals. This means that managing a manhole cover and parking fees is easy and cheap. Even if the construction cost of a base station is 2 million RMB, it can be managed within a radius of 10 km. nb-iot technology brings life to innovative applications in the field of IoT, bringing innovation to many fields such as remote meter reading, security alarm, smart manhole cover, smart street light, etc.

The evolution of NB-IoT is very important, such as support for multicast, continuous mobility, new power levels, etc. As long as the infrastructure such as NB-IOT is complete, 5G is really achievable.

II: Current 5G progress

Domestic 5G technology tests have also been launched in advance. The domestic 5g test is divided into two phases. One is from January 2016 to the end of 2018, which is a technology-oriented pilot; the other is from 2019 to 2020, which is a real product-oriented commercial pilot.

In the first phase, there are three stages. from January to September 2016, the 5G Promotion Group completed technology-based experiments. The second phase now requires testing based on a unified test specification, unified spectrum, and a unified platform. At this stage, the country has built the world's largest 5G trial network in Huairou, Beijing, with 30 base stations. Six major global equipment manufacturers are involved in the trial.

The issue of frequency analysis of 5G and domestic research progress has also been made. in June 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology conducted a public data call for information on spectrum management of 5G using systems on its website. Huawei's Hysis Semiconductor has recently stated that it is continuously developing Kirin processors that provide support for 5G networks, which are expected to be available in 2019. At the same time we expect to launch our first R10 version of the 5G chip in 2019, but it is the R16 that will not be considered a real 5G standard until 2020.

According to the schedule of the international standards bodies 3GPP and ITU (International Telecommunication Union), the first official version of the 5G standard will be launched in June 2018, called R15. R1 6 will be completed by the end of 2019 and will be more granular than the R15 version. This will also be the final version.

By 2020, 5g will be so widespread that no device manufacturer will expect it to be available quickly. Despite the rapid progress of the standard, the June to September standards freeze period has just begun, and there is still a long way to go in establishing base stations and compatibility mechanisms (future Huawei and ZTE must be compatible).

Three: NB-IOT application scenarios

Supervising smart cities

To water, electricity, gas meter intelligence for metering, public parking resource management, environmental protection technology monitoring and other areas as the entry point, the city development of public cultural services and public relations management capabilities continue to improve, monitoring a city life requires many aspects of our business presence and to low cost. NB-IoT and LTE makes internal control of street lights, free parking, environmental quality monitoring, etc. become possible. As mentioned earlier, NB-IoT modems are competitively priced in the market. For example, modules are expected to be $5. The main requirement for smart meter reading is a network information coverage. Sometimes, meter reading needs to be in poor signal areas, for example, remote rural areas and underground.NB-IoT enables monitoring of gas and water meters by learning regular small data transmission systems. This will directly lead to better network construction coverage for students.

Information consumption

Applications for smart homes, wearables, child and elder care, pet tracking and consumer electronics to enhance business model innovation; NB-IOT supports a large number of sensors, from big data volumes to small data volume activities. Enables portability and implementation of big data.

Industrial Manufacturing

Combine industrial Internet with smart manufacturing to promote integrated innovation, monitor manufacturing processes, and expand its application in logistics, transportation, agricultural production, etc.

Shared technology and smart hardware

The development of applications for "bi-innovation" enterprises, such as shared use of bicycles and intelligent system hardware.

What is the relationship between NB-IOT and 5G? 5G makes all interconnection possible, and NB-IOT is the prelude and foundation of 5G services. 5G can be truly realized as long as NB-IOT infrastructure is perfected.

What are the IoT's layers?

Architecture of IoT (A: three layers) (B: five layers). ]. The five layers include perception, transport, processing, application, and business layers (see Figure 1). (see Figure 1). The role of the perception and application levels is the same as the architecture with three layers.

Where is NB-IoT utilized?

Smart meter reading, agriculture, logistics, smart city solutions, and more areas find use for NB-IoT. It is ideally suited for underground modules because of its capacity to transfer massive volumes of data, particularly in difficult-to-reach places. Use cases for NB-IoT include: Digital metering (electricity, gas, and water meter)

Do phones support Zigbee?

We create a Smartphone-ZigBee embedded system in order to design a mobile application for low-power, low-bandwidth wireless ad hoc networking with usable ranges since ZigBee chipsets have not yet been incorporated into contemporary smartphones.

What are the benefits of 5G phones over 4G?

Overall, 5G has various advantages over 4G, including faster speeds, lower latency, capacity for more connected devices, less interference, and improved efficiency, thanks to the new technology, spectrum, and frequencies it uses.
